The Camera Museum

The Camera Museum, the first of its kind in southeast Asia, occupies a refurbished 2-storey shophouse on Lebuh Muntri in the centre of Georgetown. It opened in late 2013, and by April 2014 it had become one of the top attractions in Penang. The museum traces the complete history of the camera and you can discover more than 1,000 vintage and contemporary models in a genuinely atmospheric setting. Look out for the 18th-century cameras in the fascinating Exhibition Hall and unique covert gadgets in the Spy Room, while a tour of the Dark Room reveals the secrets behind the enduring magic of photography. Enthusiasts will be happy to discover that taking pictures is positively encouraged!
